Why did it have to be daily?

Over the past few weeks, my mind has been wrestling with a question: why was manna produced daily? I know what the obvious answer is – that God wanted the Israelites to depend upon Him for their daily provision. But still my mind wrestled until one day I stumbled upon the answer that satisfied and amazed me. Yes, it was to do with daily dependence upon God, but it also had another deeper significance.

By providing manna daily, God wanted the Israelites to experience His daily miraculous provision. Can you imagine waking up every morning and waiting for His miraculous provision – knowing fully well that if God did not show up, they would starve to death? This is the way that God wants us to live. Imagine experiencing a real-life miracle everyday?

Not only was the provision of manna miraculous, but the substance itself had many miraculous qualities. God’s intention was for the Israelites to experience His daily miraculous provision.

When I saw this for the first time, I had to ask myself – is this really true and if it is – what do I need to do to experience God’s miraculous daily provision? Is this the same provision that I get when I get my regular salary?

What does the scripture mean when it says that Jesus is the manna from heaven? Is He the one we feed on for our miraculous provision? Should we expect miraculous provision on a daily basis? Is the provision through our salaries, wages or businesses the same as the daily miraculous provision or should we still be expecting something else? The questions go on and I wish I had all the answers but at this stage, I am left with more questions than answers. Personally I expect God to meet my needs daily but I don’t expect miraculous provision.

But could it be that when we pray to God for our daily needs, we are not just praying for God to supply our material and spiritual needs but we are asking for God to give us daily His miraculous intervention? The miraculous is over and above the general. This is so mind-boggling that you want to ask yourself, whether this is really true. Therefore, if it is, then we need to raise our faith expectation – to receive the miraculous on a daily basis. How I would love to walk in this realm.

God could have easily provided for them in way. After all, the Israelites had been eating since they came out of Egypt but He chose to provide for them supernaturally and miraculously on a daily basis.

We begin by praying and after praying believing and expecting. Why not start today by asking for God’s supernatural provision on a daily basis. What a challenge!

So until I appear again in your inbox with more insights and thoughts from the scriptures, stay blessed
