When God gets your attention!

This is a personal story that I believe will bless you. I would like to consider myself a bible scholar and that, with a little bit of time, I could work most things out. But the question I felt God ask me recently had me stumped. The question was: how much time was there between the ascension and the resurrection?

Just to give you some context. I had been praying for a manifestation of some long awaited promises. Sometimes, the tone of my prayer was ‘well Lord, in Your time’. When God asked the question, I knew He wanted my attention and wanted to reveal a truth to me.

So back to the question; my immediate (not-thought-through) response was 50 days. I promptly went to good old Google and searched for the answer. It was actually only 10 days between the two events. “Is that all?” I found myself saying and then I realised my subconscious thought and belief had become xxxx. Just in case you are wondering as well, Jesus appeared to His disciples after the resurrection for 40 days and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (the day of Pentecost) was 50 days after the ascension. I had always believed that a large amount of time elapsed between the two events, which manifested in the belief that I always have to wait for a long time and labour until God comes through.

This post however, is not about my biblical test but the truth that is being revealed here. It was a rhema for me. In my case it was to raise my faith and expectation to believe for Now.

I have to balance this article by stating that there are times when God will make us wait but the aim of this newsletter is to challenge a specific mindset. However, the tone of my prayer and my mindset was, “God please do it in Your own time”. Subconsciously I was saying that I would wait, continue to wait and keep on waiting until God decides to comes through. Of course, that can sometimes be the case, but I had to allow God to be God in my thinking and actually believe that He might want to do something a bit more quickly. My mindset had boxed God into a corner.

This was simply my rhema for my situation but in case, like me, you think you need to wait a long time for the manifestation of a promise, sometimes it does not really take too long.

I trust that this post has been a blessing and as you move further into 2016, remember there are some things you need to possess that are nearer than you think. May God continue to give us revelation on His timing in our lives.

So until I appear again in your inbox with more insight from the scriptures, stay blessed
