What is in your heart to do?

We are a few months into 2016 in what I believe is a great year for the church as we look forward to the glory of God covering the earth as the waters cover the sea. This is the type of post that I would normally write at the beginning of the year but as we come to the end of the first quarter of the year, it is useful to stop and reflect. Many of us will have made plans for 2016. How are they going? I have another question, are you accomplishing exactly what you set out to do for God this year?

So many times, we focus on the earthly because that is what we can see in front of us. A lot of our plans are tangible things we can measure. How about having an eternal perspective? I remember once writing a post asking what you would take to the throne room with you? Therefore, I would like you to imagine that it is the end of the year. Will we be able to say like David in 1 Chronicles 22:7 “it was in my heart to build a house for the name of the LORD my God” or whatever the equivalent response is for you?

What is in your heart to do, is the question posed in this newsletter. Having established what is in your heart, then you need to go about taking action. This is what David did as recorded in 1 Chronicles 29:2 (b) – “I have done my best to get everything together for building this house for my God” and then again in vs 3 “Furthermore, because my heart is in this, in addition to and beyond what I have gathered, I am turning over my personal fortune of gold and silver for making this place of worship for my God”.

Having articulated the vision, the other side is to make active preparation. In fulfilment of this vision, is it all mapped out? I appreciate that we hear this all the time. I find that spiritual goals are one area we don’t focus on e.g. you might want to be a prophet but you haven’t studied a wide range of material on the prophetic, you haven’t signed up for any courses, you are not familiar with all scriptures relating to the prophetic, you have not identified someone with the gift you could learn from. This is what I mean by preparation. So back to the question, have you outlined the preparation you need to make in the fulfilment of your spiritual goals? Vision and preparation go together. If you haven’t, now is the time to start.

Let’s be wise and act in accordance with Matthew 6:33 – seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you. May God continue to bless the works of our hands so we can hear those delightful words “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

So until I appear again in your inbox with more insight from the scriptures, stay blessed
