God wants to raise up people that can be trusted with money. Therefore, in much the same way that we go to college to gain a qualification for the life ahead of us, if you want to handle kingdom finances, you need to prepare yourself. The knowledge and skills required to handle kingdom finances is more than basic money management. These additional questions are designed to help you identify those areas where you might need more preparation.

Thank you for taking the ‘Part II of Handling God’s finances’ test.

How did you do?

  • Knowledge
  • Purpose

You have come to the end of the questionnaire. Did the answers surprise you?Why not look at the areas where you have scored the lowest and identify what you need to do about them. A score of 1 indicates that you are quite weak in that area whilst a score of 5 indicates you are quite strong.

Knowledge is important for the Christian and is an attribute that the scriptures encourage us to seek. Indeed, the book of Proverbs continually encourages us to seek knowledge.

For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6).

indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding, (Proverbs 2:3).

Hosea 4:6 states the general principle that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Knowing God’s word about money will cause us to walk in His truth. There is so much to learn from the scriptures and we are encouraged to show ourselves approved:

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:5).

We need a Godly view of wealth so we can handle it His way. Only the manufacturer of a product knows the intended usefor the product they have created and how it is expected to work. The same is true of money, God has given it to us and we need to ask Him how to use it.

We need to be willing to learn about money.

I believe that God will entrust wealth to those that will use it for kingdom purposes. We are to remember the Lord our God, for it is He that gives us the power to get wealth and use it for his kingdom purpose (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Kingdom work requires finances. King David is a good example of someone who used money to achieve kingdom purposes. He had a desire to build a house for God. God refused his offer because he was a man of blood (1 Chronicles 28:2-3). Despite this, God gave the plan to David and he was able to give both the plan and the money to his son Solomon, who went on to build the temple (1 Chronicles 28:6).

Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its storerooms, its upper parts, its inner rooms and the place of atonement.12 He gave him the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind for the courts of the temple of the Lord and all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the temple of God and for the treasuries for the dedicated things.13 He gave him instructions for the divisions of the priests and Levites, and for all the work of serving in the temple of the Lord, as well as for all the articles to be used in its service.14 He designated the weight of gold for all the gold articles to be used in various kinds of service, and the weight of silver for all the silver articles to be used in various kinds of service:…“All this,” David said, “I have in writing as a result of the Lord’s hand on me, and he enabled me to understand all the details of the plan.” (1 Chronicles 28:11-19).

The question is what great things has God laid on your heart that you want to accomplish for Him? Make your life count.

Next steps

Is action required on your part? Do you need to:

  • Study the scriptures to have a firmer and better grasp of the subject?
  • Commit your financial life to God in a more purposeful way?

Secondly, why not go over areas where you have scored three or below. Most likely, it’s because you were not sure – perhaps wanting to be on the safe side. Why not reflect again on these areas, with the intention of moving up to a 4 or 5. That way, you could have further identified areas of improvement.

If as a result of this evaluation, you feel compelled to do something, then I believe you are well on your way to preparing yourself to handle God’s money.

If there are any wealth and or money related themes that you think should be included in the questionnaire, then click HERE to add a question or two. If the questions are accepted, the questionnaire will be updated at an appropriate time.In addition, we welcome hearing about any resources that have blessed you and which you would like to recommend to others.

Finally, perhaps some of the questions might leave you wondering about the next step, that’s where the journey begins and becomes exciting. Why not start by leaving a comment so others on the same journey can share it with you.
